Intro to Banded Skinks
Peter's Banded Skinks are burrowing lizards that are native to Africa. These skinks are rapidly growing on popularity throughout the pet trade. They can get about 7 inches long and they can live around 10+ years in captivity. We recommend these for keepers of all experience levels.

Banded Skinks Care
Peter's Banded Skinks feed readily on a variety of insects and veggies dusted with multivitamins and calcium. Since they utilize so much ground space, decorating their enclosures with foliage, caves, and logs will help them feel safe and offer enrichment. The minimum terrarium size for a Peter's Banded Skink is a 40 gallon tank. They do well with a hot spot of ~90 degrees F, an ambient temperature of 80 degrees F, and a humidity level of 50%. The humidity can easily be achieved with proper substrate like Eco Earth, ReptiSoil, or Coco. I recommend Tropical UVB for this species.

Banded Skinks For Sale in the Pet Trade
Reptile breeders are starting to work with these skinks, but Captive Bred animals are not common. The majority of these lizards that are in the pet trade are Wild Caught Imported Animals. Though imported animals may have a negative stigma, these are brought in legally with proper paperwork and in quantities that are allowed through governing laws.
